Fête in the Northern Caucasus
This is a part of a series of photographs that were taken in my home city- Stavropol (Northern Caucasus - South of Russia).
It is currently regarded as the most unstable region of Russia, notorious for its terrorist acts, kidnappings and general assaults. Nevertheless, local people still find the strength to see the beauty and joy in the everyday life. Regardless of the grim reality they celebrate life through the act of national dance, costume and singing. I see it as a great example of the metaphor of ‘the ray of light in the kingdom of darkness’.
